A Friend's House
A Domestic Violence Program

Our Mission

A Friend’s House is a domestic violence
program whose goal is to bring about
positive social change to persons
impacted by domestic violence.
To accomplish this, A Friend’s
House has three objectives:
to increase public awareness and
understanding of domestic violence;
to provide safe shelter for victims of
domestic violence and their children
when no other options exist; and
to provide support for victims in order
to help them regain control over their lives

Since opening in 2001, A Friend’s House
has served more than 1,600 survivors of
domestic violence on site and through
community outreach and court advocacy.

Currently serving on the Board of Directors are:
Jim Markel (president), Jolene Mierzejewski,
Karen Rohner, Tom Phillips, Mariah McAfee-Goff,
Cathie Littleton, Doug Crabbe, & Sherry Bostic.
Executive Director: Sue Ellen Hughes
